Air Tindi loses C208 near Lutselk’e, NWT.

It has come to my attention that Air Tindi has had an aircraft go down approximately 20nm outside the Community of Lutselk’e, NWT.

The Cessna 208 Caravan C-GATV operating Flight AT 200 departed Yellowknife (YZF) at 1703Z and had four passengers including Pilot, was due into Lutselk’e at 1745Z.

Rescue Crews inserted by a Discovery Air Twin Otter and a helicopter from Great Slave Helicopters reached the crash site. Reports indicate that two of the passengers; Sheldon Catholique and Bernice Marlowe are confirmed survivors while the Pilot, Matthew Bromley and Tim Harris of NWT Power are deceased.

The Weather conditions in Lutselk’e during the time of the incident are as follows:

  • METAR CYLK 041900Z CCB 12004KT 10SM -SHRA SCT010 OVC015 06/06 A2972

The Lutselk’e Airport (CYLK) has an RNAV approach for Runway 08T with minima of 1160′ and 1 3/4mi visibility for an LNAV approach.

Transport Canada has issued the CADORS report 2011C3762 which can be viewed on their website.
